I started out over 25 years ago while living in Albuquerque, NM. A friend had started brewing and I joined in. We were just doing extract out of a can, which as I recall, made a few decent batches. I moved to the Charlotte area in 1995 and met Jess Faucette (Alternative Beverage). I brewed many of his dry malt recipes through the years and had a couple sabbaticals through the years as well. Got back into brewing a few years back and learned about UPZS and since then, my brewing has grown by leaps and bounds. I currently brew all grain recipes with my mainstay being Pale Ales and IPAs. I enjoy most every style and have had success with Pilsners through Scottish Ales. My equipment list had grown exponentially, however I would be quick to point out to beginners that you can make great beer out of a plastic bucket!
